Delivery drivers parking ticket concerns

This petition is to bring awareness to the council, need for urgent solution to the parking challenge faced by delivery drivers and partners alike.

It’s obvious the COVID-19 pandemic have altered the way society at large now shop, and consumers are now increasingly depending on click and deliver services.

This inevitably will mean more delivery vehicles on our roads. Parking spaces are now of a concern, as many delivery drivers are constantly being issued tickets for a 5-10 minutes pickup run.

We are calling on the local authority to listen to our concerns and consider our solution/proposal.

Solution/proposal.

To reduce the increasing number of disputed tickets ; we propose the use of technology either off the shelve or tailored to help address the challenges.

A QR code is generated for all drivers to display, which gives the driver 10-15 minutes to either pickup or deliver.

After 10-15 minutes elapses, then 3p per minute is chargeable for up to half an hour, afterwards a full ticket penalty can be issued.

Subscribing drivers must scan their displayed QR once parked and scanned afterwards before driving off.

Subscription is charged at £5 monthly and it’s subject to the driver only, not the vehicle.

In conclusion, a form of partnership with the council and a third party can make the parking mayhem better for all. Thank You.
